Boredom and Sadness: Audio Series for Teens

Updated: Apr 29

Understanding Boredom and Sadness as a Teen

Being a teenager can feel like a rollercoaster. One moment everything is fine, and the next you’re stuck in a bad mood, bored, or upset about something you can’t even explain. Whether it’s pressure at school, uncertainty about your social life, or simply not feeling like yourself, these emotional dips are incredibly common—but they don’t have to feel overwhelming.

In part two of this two-part audio series, George Pransky speaks directly to teens about what’s really going on when you feel stuck in a low mood or weighed down by boredom or sadness. And the answer might surprise you.

Moods Come and Go

When you’re in a bad mood, it’s easy to think that something outside of you—your school day, your friendships, your parents—is the cause. But what George helps teens see in this recording is that moods are created from the inside out. They come from your own thinking in the moment.

That means you’re not at the mercy of the people or situations around you. And even better? Those low moods don’t mean anything about you. They don’t say you’re broken or that something’s wrong. They’re just part of how the mind works—and they always pass.

Boredom Isn’t the Problem You Think It Is

It’s common to think boredom means something’s wrong or needs to be fixed immediately. But in reality, boredom can be a neutral state—just another temporary feeling that doesn’t need to be taken so seriously. When you understand that, it becomes easier to ride it out without panicking or jumping to distractions that don’t actually help.

What This Audio Helps Teens Realize

By listening to this recording, teens learn that it’s okay to feel low sometimes and that these feelings aren’t permanent. More importantly, they discover they don’t need to fix themselves or force their way out of a bad mood. Clarity and relief come naturally when you understand the simple truth behind how your mind works.

This is the second in a 2- part audio series about issues that relate uniquely to teenagers. In the recording, George speaks directly to teens about what you can do when things start weighing on your mind.

Pransky & Associates

In 1976, George and Linda Pransky stumbled on a new way of helping people that was radically different from the traditional counseling methods they had been using in their work. The new principles they were learning had a huge impact on their personal lives, their relationship, and the way they worked with their clients. They began to teach these principles to their clients and became pioneers in a new field of psychology that profoundly changed people in a short amount of time.
