What if the most important variable in business, and in life, is one we rarely think to look at?
Aidan Mayer is the turnaround expert companies call when a business is in trouble. But at Krake-McLane Inc., he encounters something his usual methods cannot fix: a demoralized workforce, fractured leadership, and a culture shaped by pressure and blame.

A chance meeting with Jacob Bump, an unconventional British psychologist, introduces Aidan to a different understanding of the mind. One that begins to change how he sees leadership, performance, relationships, and himself.

Set in the high-pressure world of business, State of Mind Is the Bottom Line is ultimately a deeply human story about resilience, clarity, and the new possibilities that appear when we begin to see differently.

Born from Experience. Written as a Story.
State of Mind Is the Bottom Line brings together two longtime friends and colleagues whose lives have been shaped by very different—but deeply complementary—forms of experience.

Don Donovan brings more than four decades of experience working in and leading large, complex organizations and high-performing teams across the aerospace, defense, and national security sectors. His understanding of leadership was shaped not only by the demands of that world, but by a profound change in how he came to understand the mind, resilience, and human performance.

George Pransky, PhD, has spent nearly five decades helping individuals, couples, teams, and leaders understand the connection between state of mind and quality of life. Since discovering the principles at the heart of this book in the 1970s, George has become widely respected for the clarity, humanity, and simplicity with which he shares them.

Written out of more than 30 years of friendship and collaboration, the novel combines Don’s lived experience in high-stakes leadership with George’s groundbreaking understanding of the human mind. The result is a story that feels at once specific and universal—rooted in business, but reaching into nearly every part of life.

Don’s professional background, his longtime collaboration with George, and the inspiration behind his first novel are described in the authors’ published biographies. Pransky & Associates has worked with leaders, teams, couples, and individuals since the 1970s.
